It is weird how you can be so affected by the past, whether it is your past or others. Yes history, the past, memory, whatever it is you prefer to call it, will affect your life whether you like it or not. I have to again emphasise that this past does not necessarily be yours, it can be somebody else's.
Some say history will not repeat itself. But you can never be too sure. If history is told over and over again, it may get 'repeated' although not in the same manner but it is possible, and sometimes inevitable. If history is not meant to be 'repeated' then why it is told and retold? Some may say it is so people learn from the past. But that is too vast a generalisation. Have you heard about Judith Butler's theory on performance as a matter of imitation? It is something like that. When you hear, you learn. When you learn, you avoid - or some cases, you follow. That's just how it is.
Unpleasant memories from the past can eat you up and kill you from inside. Rage, anger, mistrust. And jealousy. So how do you let go? There's never a right time.
Just a passing thought.
